Here's a small website with the photos that my Gran had collected over the years.

Gran was born in 1912. Significant events of 1912 include Captain Robert Scott and his team reaching the south pole, Suffragettes smashing windows in London's West End, the Titanic sinking, the start of the First Balkan War, and the Republic of China was established.

Imagine, if you will, being born into a world where so many things we take for granted simply did not exist. Television (the BBC for that matter), the Internet, microwave ovens, jet liners, (a journey from Yorkshire to Paris could easily take three days), the Welfare State, indeed the lavatory was a small building outside the house!

During her lifetime Gran had endured two World Wars and experienced numerous, signicant technological changes - the pace of change was dramatic.

Closest to her heart was her family and not a small family at that; many, but not atll, are featured in the photos.
